  • Thematic connections: What are the themes that keep coming up in our readings throughout this quarter?

Tuesday, November 17th

  • On November 17, 1558, Queen Elizabeth ascended to the throne, beginning the Elizabethan Age.
  • Make the connection: share what we have learned from our reading 
  • Finish viewing and reflecting on documentary of Elie's return to Auschwitz.
  • Time to work on Significant Quotes essay assignment. Revise and review Writing Goals. Complete Writing Goals section for this essay.
  • How do we carry the message outside the walls of the classroom? Discussion and graffiti wall.

  • What is literary criticism?

  • On this date in 1863, Lincoln delivers the Gettsburg Address.

 

  • How can literary criticism aid in interpretation?

 

  • Work assigned by Literary Criticism Group. Presentations DUE MONDAY.
  • Kite Runner: Read chapters 1-4 (pages 1-34) for TUES., 11/24.  As you read, take notes how how you might apply each of the seven literary criticism approaches to your reading. Come to class TUES. with your grid completed.

Friday, November 20th

  • On this date in 1945, the Nuremberg Trials began.
  • Applying literary criticism
  • Work Day: Groups should finish Literary Criticism presentation slides and email presentations to Ms. Ward by the close of the block today.
  • Work assigned by Literary Criticism Group. Presentations DUE MONDAY.
